MVCC releases answers to questions asked at the 12 Nov meeting

You can see the answers to questions asked at the 12 Nov meeting here.

We don't believe that any of these answers invalidates the issues we have raised on our Issues page.

The following is worth noting:

  • The pavilion is listed as 500m2 rather than 700m2 as per the draft master plan
  • Answer 1: The figure of 14% needs to be backed up.
  • Answer 2: Eight ovals in total, but less are available for community senior and junior cricket.
  • Answer 13: "Home clubs will not be affected". The loss of available grounds still means the two cricket associations that run junior and senior cricket will need to find other grounds, or increase Sunday play at Fairbairn
  • Answer 15: Does not address why ovals with one ground were not considered. ECC have made an excessive ambit claim for two grounds at the one location, and the location of one ground each at two locations should be considered. Council should also release the results of the investigations, and why other locations have been ruled out. The thoroughness of this investion is highly questionable.
  • Answer 22: Part of the master plan's funding is assured (ECC move) while any other benefits cannot be guaranteed until future budgets are known.
  • Answer 24: Limited change to the ovals?
  • Anwser 26: What are the conditions of the liquor licence?
  • Answer 27: Why is a post and rail fence required at all, when Cricket Victoria do not mandate a fence for any level of Premier Cricket. Question about roped off practice wicket not answered.
  • Answer 28: More details about the times the pavilion will be available. Will there be a charge for hire?
  • Answer 31: Cannot see how further restricting the use of the park in any way is advisable when a large number of new residents are moving into the area. What data/studies has council got to back up this claim?
  • Answer 34: A truly 'shared' vision means listening to community concerns.
  • Answer 42: Training is not similar to existing clubs, at this level of cricket, many more players will be traning across a wider area than do the existing clubs. And the training will be in addition to the current situation
  • Answer 43: Clear increase in Sunday play for the park, on the Sundays that ECC play at the park and given the pressure on Saturday grounds, it is likely that both days of these weekends will see the park at capacity.
  • Answer 45: Gives little comfort. Master Plans are quite often not followed (perhaps becuase of funding) and superceded as priorities change. They are not plans which are cast in stone. The ECC move is funded and will occur immediately. Other work may not happen for a period of time, if at all.
  • Answer 46. Does not answer the question.
  • Answer 51. It appears from the draft master plan that many ovals have been moved to the south, closer to the driving range.
